VERY IMPORTANT NOTES

Before ( and after ) Installing MED v2

PLEASE READ ALL OF THIS

(again and again)

After you have installed MED v2 the very first time you run the program it will scan (seek for) the VSTi's in the MED Soundstudio VST folder, there are a few free VSTi's allready in that folder but if you want some excellent VSTi's that work great with MED Soundstudio then browse to: LINPLUG

The obvious first one to download is the FREE Alpha3, simply run the exe file and install it into your MED Soundstudio vst folder then run MED, open the song/instrument properties and select the VSTi button.

You will see that at the bottom of the instrument properties window a "VSTi Properties" section has become active, select the "Plugin:" button and you will see a list of available VSTi's - (if you have downloaded/installed the above detailed FREE Alpha 3, select that one), or, select one of those listed and then hit the "Edit" button.
Your chosen VSTi program will then open for you to experiment with.

Select the "OK" button on the instrument properties window and you will be left with your chosen VSTi program window on top of the MED Soundstudio window, to play around with your chosen instruments, first select the MED Soundstudio window and press one of the keys (on your keyboard) and you will hear the sound being produced by your chosen VSTi program. Whilst that sound is being played, you can select the VSTi window and using the controls, adjust the sound until you are happy with it, then select the MED Soundstudio window again and activate the "E" (EDIT) button, you can then enter your chosen VSTi effect into MED.

(you really ought to Download/install that FREE Alpha 3 and try that)

If you have the money, you are advised to buy the Chrono X3 VSTi from linplug (link given above), as it really works great with MED. (no I don't get paid for pushing that program, I simply like it a lot)

If you want to add other VST folders, go to the MED Soundstudio Menu and select Settings/VST System, you can then add other VST folders.

For those of you to be UNFORTUNATE enough to have locked/protected VSTI's............

PLEASE NOTE that If you add a vst folder containing protected VSTi's ( Ilok/Synchrosoft/WASP for example ),a window will open saying "debugger detected" , and MED will be forced to shut down by that locked VST and the next time you launch MED Soundstudio it will shut down immediately and no longer run.

To cure this, go the the MS Windows Start/All Programs and move your mouse pointer to the "MED Soundstudio 2.0/MED Help" and you will see a file called "Refresh VST configuration", simply click on it and you will then be able to launch MED Soundstudio again.

If you want to use those locked VSTi's you will require a special replacement MED.exe to work with those protected VSTi versions. To obtain that special version, browse to: Special Version and fill in the form,
we will get back to you as soon as possible on how to obtain the replacement that will accept your locked/registered VSTi's Or you can simply continue trying the free VSTi's included with this trial and when you register, you will find that your locked VSTi's will function correctly.

(If are not using locked/protected registered VSTi's the above will not affect you)

When MED Soundstudio is running and you select a VSTi, on some occaisions, the window relating to that VSTi may open 'BEHIND' the MED Soundstudio window, this is unavoidable, so if you launch a VSTi program and you do not see that programs window, either resize the MED Soundstudio window or temporarily select it's windows minimize selector and you should see that programs window.

Users without ASIO supported soundcards

If you do not have a soundcard that offers ASIO, simply download/install the ASIO4ALL drivers and you will
then be able to use MED's ASIO facilities by selecting ASIO from the MED menu Playback/Settings window.

One word of warning, ASIO4ALL is set by default to resample everything to 48kHz, if your soundcard is set to 44.1kHz, you may have to alter the ASIO4ALL settings, to do this simply open the ASIO4ALL control via the MED menu/playback audio settings, untick the ASIO4ALL section which says: "Allways resample 44.1kHz <-> 48kHz"

You should really only add another programs VSTi folder path to MED using the MED Soundstudio Menu Settings/VST System but if you do add your own VSTi's to the MED vst folder, don't worry if you later decide to uninstall this MED trial as any files that you have added, (were not installed by the MED installer itself) will not be deleted, (same goes for any mods/samples/MIDI files that you have added).

In this case, after you uninstall, you will see that the folders with your own work in are still held in the MED Soundstudio folder (they have not been deleted) so it will be up to you to delete the folder after you have dealt with your own named files.

Please realise that MED Soundstudio is a very complicated piece of sofware and the correct settings for your system and soundcard is required for everything to work smoothly. If you are unable to get your settings right, please sign up to the MED Mailer, (you can do this via the MED Menu/Help) once signed up, simply make a post giving us your setup, and explain the problem you are having, we will do our very best to help you.

MIDI is still not sorted completely, however, “Complete” MIDI support is being worked on now, if you register this v2 you will be able to download Free v2 updates as they become available, you can, of course, wait until the update with full and complete MIDI support is available, but we expect that once it has been sorted, the registration price will increase so you will be better of registering now! (up to you of course)
