
To set any options, set them as you wish by setting check
boxes, and then click apply to save your options and update VLink's
behavior to reflect the changes, or OK to do that smae and close the
options dialog. Clicking Apply or OK affects ALL options on all tabs
in the options dialog. Click cancel, or simply close the window to discard
any changes that you made. Note that changes made in the Fileset manager
take effect immediately, and cannot be canceled.
Scroll method
This option determines whether VLink uses a single column and
vertical scroll bar to display links, or a horizontal scroll bar with
a number of columns. Having more than one column allows more links to
be displayed, but may make finding those links more difficult.

User level
Set this option to beginner if you have not previously used VLink, or
wish to see additional help/hint messages. Setting it to experienced
removes this messages.

Show VLink on key
This option sets a key that will, when pressed, bring VLink to the foreground
and make it your active window. Tick the box and then select a key (recommended:
F9), then click apply to set the option. Untick the box if you do not
want to use this option.

Confirm link deletion
With this tickbox ticked, VLink will confirm that you want to delete
links before actually deleting them in delete mode or general management/move
mode. Otherwise, links will be deleted immediately.

Confirm fileset deletion
Tick this options if you want VLink to ask you if you are sure that
you want to delete a fileset when using Delete fileset from the main
window and Fileset manager dialog.

Minimize to system tray
This option, when ticked, will run VLink as an icon from the area next
to your system clock, taking less overall space on your taskbar. Alternatively,
VLink will be displayed on your taskbar as a normal window.

Open VLink at startup
Use this option if you want VLink to be launched automatically every
time Windows is started. To do this, VLink will create a Windows link
to itself in the 'Start up' directory of your start menu. Unticking
it, then clicking apply, will delete this link if it exists.

Remember sort order
This option will re-sort your list according to the sort method that
you have chosen in the main window's right click menu. You will then
be able to tick the sort method that you want to use on the menu, and
VLink will keep the list sorted in the selected way. Note, with this
option, that 'Reverse' can also be ticked at the same time as a sort
method.

Use one-time modes
This option, when turned on, will switch off all modes after they have
been used a single time. For example, if you turn on Open directory
in the main window, then click a on link, Open directory will be turned
off after that link has been run. This is useful because Open directory
is often only used to run one directory per usage, and means that you
do not have to turn it off yourself after you have used it.

Remember task/event state
This option will save which task/event mode you were using when you
closed VLink, and re-activate that same mode when you next run VLink.

Remember screen position
With this option on, VLink will save where it's main window was on the
screen when it is closed, and place the main window in this same position
when you open it again. Turn this option off for VLink to always start
up in the centre of your screen.

Remove drag/drop extensions
If this option is used, when you drop external files onto VLink's main
list, the name given to these links by VLink will will their filename
with their file extension removed. Otherwise, the link name will be
the filename including its file extensions, for example MyFile.txt.

Icon on desktop
Tick this option and click apply to have VLink put a Windows shortcut
to itself on your desktop, so that you can launch VLink from there.
Untick the option, then click apply for VLink to delete this link.

Icon on QuickLaunch bar
Tick this option and click apply to have VLink put a Windows shortcut
to itself on your QuickLaunch bar (the small icon area often next to
your Start button), so that you can launch VLink from there.

Icon on start menu
Tick this option and click apply to have VLink put a Windows shortcut
to itself on your Start menu, so that you can launch VLink from there.

Keep on desktop
This option, when in use, will not allow VLink to be moved off the screen
area.

Use autocomplete
Tick this option to make use of the auto-complete feature of the add
link dialog, a drop down box that will list possible completions
for a link path that you are manually typing into the File path/Address
box.

Show popup help hints
This option will display small hints when you hover your mouse over
a button or other control, which usually give a brief description of
what that control does.

Confirm Windows restart
Tick this option if you want VLink to check that you wanted to restart
Windows when you clicking Windows-Restart from VLink's main right click
menu.

Confirm Windows shutdown
Tick this option if you want VLink to check that you wanted to shut
down Windows when you clicking Windows-Shutdown from VLink's main right
click menu.

Shutdown Windows on exit
Tick this option if you want VLink to automatically shut down Windows
when you close VLink.

Except on mode
This option, when used alongside 'Shutdown Windows on exit', will not
shut down Windows if VLink closed because of a Task/Event mode such
as Run/Exit.
