NR #1995-052: For Immediate Release Reformed Bible College Gains North Central Accreditation [Courtesy Reformed Bible College] Distributed by United Reformed News Service GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (May 4, 1995) URNS - The North Central Association of Colleges and Schools (NCA) has informed Reformed Bible College that the college has received accreditation from NCA. RBC has been accredited by the Accrediting Association of Bible Colleges (AABC) since 1964 and now, as a result of the decision by NCA will enjoy broader recognition of its academic programs. In 1991 RBC decided to seek accreditation with North Central while continuing its accreditation with AABC. The decision to seek NCA accreditation does not indicate that RBC is changing its mission. RBC will continue as a Bible college and requires that all students major in Bible and Theology. RBC indicated that NCA accreditation will help RBC in three ways: 1. It will be easier for RBC students to transfer credits, 2. Some foundations consider grant requests only from regionally-accredited schools, and 3. Some corporations will give matching funds to collegs which are regionally accredited. Reformed Bible College, historically associated with the Christian Reformed denomination, is an independent four-year degree-granting institution in the northeast suburbs of Grand Rapids which trains missionaries and evangelistic workers.
